PROJECTS: GRADE 11

As a Junior at Manchester High School, I continued to improve my talents in Broadcast Journalism and was also able to compete at the Student Television Network national competition in Anaheim California. Below are  a few examples of what I feel is my best work from my Junior Year.

Sample 3: Groundhog's Day

For this story, we covered the Groundhog's Day tradition in Manchester, who is also the official state groundhog. The reporter and I went to the museum at 6:00 in the morning and were recording alongside local news stations.

Sample 4: Injustices of the Transportation Industry

This story was done during the Crazy 8s Competition at STN Nationals in Anaheim, CA. We were given 8 hours to produce an 8 minute news production related to social justice. After two of our stories fell through due to press release issues, I began to talk to our Uber driver about his salary and working conditions. When I realized it could be a story, I asked him if he would be interested in doing an interview, and had my reporter ask questions on camera. This quickly led to an eye-opening story about the poor treatment of drivers in the transportation industry.

Sample 5: Halloween Decorations on Main Street (4:14)

This story was created during a practice run for the Crazy 8's competition in STN and was made under the same time restraints. We were originally asked to do a story about Halloween Spirit on Main Street but after finding this business we called our directors and switched the angle of our story to focus on one particular restaurant.

These are news stories for our weekly news program. The Pulse, which I researched, filmed, wrote, and edited over an average timeframe of about one and a half weeks each.
